singer-songwriter, designer, worship leader, artist, silver lining finder.
“You mean I have to choose just one?” 15-year-old me gawked at the thought of having to choose one major in college. I think my path in life quietly echoes this statement, weaving through many a place and field of study. I relish the chance to learn and find adventure.
I’m a creative based in Raleigh-Durham, NC. I spent the past 8 years living and working in London, UK. My roots are in the American Deep South, although my accent won’t give that away. I suppose my experiences traveling and living around the globe have influenced more than my perspective.
I cut my teeth in the world of art at the age of 11 when I began attending the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Exploring my voice as a visual artist quickly spilled over to ballet, theatre and music. While my ballet and theatre pursuits were short-lived, my love for music seemed to stick. I penned my first songs in my early teens, taking to piano and guitar. I later joined a local house of prayer, where I recorded my first song, Letting Go. My faith in God has been, and continues to be the pillar that gives shape to my life.
My studies in visual art continued at Davidson College as the recipient of the 2011 Pepper Visual Arts Scholarship. There I pursued a degree in Environmental Studies, specialising in tree-ring science. I ventured to Denmark to study climate change and stumbled into another field: design thinking. I found myself thrilled at the thought of applying design to make a difference in the world. That encounter later opened a door into service design and sparked my move to London in 2016.
Today, I find myself at the intersection of multiple passions, threaded together with a desire to inspire and enrich the lives of others. I design service experiences that improve the way people live and work. I write folk-inspired music that reflects a pursuit of beauty and truth in unexpected places. And I always look for silver linings, however looming and dark life’s clouds may appear.
